Onsite Sales and Infrared Guide Download are Major Attractions
TAIPEI, Taiwan, 2nd August 2001 Here at the Taipei Computer Applications Show, Palm, Inc. a leading provider of handheld computers, is supporting 16 companies that are showcasing their solutions for Palm* handheld computers. Palm's display stand (C509) will be the focus of the launch during one of Taiwan's biggest computer shows aimed at the domestic market.
Palm is promoting the comprehensive range of solutions in cooperation with 16 companies Action International, Linko, SiPix, Symantec, Netgene, OhFish, Sunderland, Evercomm, PDAHub, GOGOPen, PenPower, Formsoft, Northstar, TeleMap, Wordpedia and Cameo.
Palm has set up three "Show Guide Download Centers" at the entrances to the World Trade Centre show venue, allowing visitors to download maps, a guided tour and other related show information onto their Palm Powered* devices. The giveaway of a 32MB expansion card with the purchase of a Palm m505 colour handheld, as well as other Palm promotions, also will be major attractions at the show.
Companies working with Palm to provide the innovative solutions include the following: * Action International
Action International's IC Card Solution allows handheld users to access mobile ecommerce services. This solution integrates a host of services, including multiplatform data transmission, management services, remote control and IC card member management systems.
* Netgene
MyOffice, by Netgene, offers the ability to effortlessly create,
view and edit Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents
on a Palm handheld and then synchronise the data with a PC.
The MyOffice suite's GeneSheet allows users to create, view
and edit Excel files and GeneWord allows the same functions
with Word files. Gene Desktop allows users to transfer Word
and Excel files between a Palm handheld and a PC.
* OhFish
OhFish's V51 GSM Sled is a nextgeneration addon
that helps release handheld users from the constraints of
time and place by allowing mobile Internet access and mobile
phone functions. The GSM Sled contains OhFish's GSM phone
software solution, which provides telephone call records,
SMS message and fax functions, as well as mobile phone voice
capabilities on a Palm Powered device.
* GOGOPen
GOGOPen's HandFly is a software application that allows Palm
handhelds to be used as a handwriting recognition device for
a PC. HandFly uses a Palm handheld's synchronisation cable
to transmit written characters "on the fly" onto
the user's PC.
* PenPower
PenPower's Business Card King Professional V2.0 allows users
to scan and save both sides of a business card into a file
that can be transferred from a PC to a handheld. Business
Card King allows users to transmit business card files via
infrared to mobile phones and provides full integration with
email applications.
Consumers can use the entire handheld screen to write English or Chinese characters with PenPower's recently released PenPower Writer handwriting recognition solution. PenPower Writer can also transform a handheld into a handwriting recognition pad for immediate input of handwriting, drawings and signatures onto a PC.
* TeleMap
MapMe!, made by TeleMap, is a dualline, digital mapping
software application that aims to provide the clearest images
of all Chineselanguage map systems on the market. MapMe!
users can search for lifestyle information, maps and other
information. MapMe! also supports GPS realtime satellite
positioning and journeyplanning functions.
* Wordpedia
Wordpedia has developed Word 123, an eBook reader that also
functions as a dictionary. Users simply move the cursor over
a word to instantly display dictionary entries. Word 123 can
be used to view traditional and simplified Chinese on PC,
Palm OS* and Penbex operating systems. It is also compatible
with Compact Flash (CF), Memory Stick (MS), Secure Digital
(SD) and MultiMediaCard Adapter memory expansion cards.
