Palm has identified that the Treo 680 device can experience reduced battery life when the camera is used. The camera may continue to draw power from the battery when the device is in standby mode. A Treo 680 Camera Update is now available to address this.
Who should install this update?
All Treo 680 smartphone users who purchased their device before January 18, 2007 should install this Update.
Note: This patch is intended only for the Treo 680 smartphone. It does not work with other Palm devices. Installing the Treo 680 Camera Update on a Treo 680 that does not require the update will not affect the camera's or the smarphone's operation.

System requirements
Installation using Palm HotSync and Quick Install: Windows 2000 or XP or Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 with Palm Desktop installed
Installation from an expansion card (MultiMediaCard or SD card): A 32MB or larger card, and a card reader that works with your computer.
This update can be installed from an expansion card. Typically, this method will be most helpful to customers updating multiple smartphones in a batch, such as an IT department deploying several devices on an enterprise level.
This method requires an expansion card of 32MB or larger, and a card reader for your desktop PC.
Decompress the downloaded file to a temporary folder, using one of these decompression utilities: WinZip, StuffIt, PKZIP, or Windows default.
One file will be extracted: Treo680CameraUpdate.prc
Insert an expansion card into a card reader connected to your desktop PC. Open the card using Windows File Explorer or the Mac Finder.
If you see a PALM folder, open it. If not, create a folder called PALM.
Inside the PALM folder, if you see a Launcher folder, open it. If you don't see a Launcher folder, create a folder called Launcher in the PALM directory.
Drag the Treo680CameraUpdate.prc file into the Launcher folder, and wait for it to finish copying.
Insert the expansion card into the Treo 680. The smartphone will automatically turn on when you insert the card. Press the center key to unlock the keyguard (if applicable).
Open the Camera Update application, which appears as "Camera U…" or "Camera Upd" in the launcher (pictured).
Select OK at the welcome screen.
Watch the updater quickly install itself on your device, then select OK at the prompt to perform a soft reset.
After the reset, press Applications .
Select Camera to launch the Camera application (see screenshot).
The installation of the Treo 680 Camera Update is now complete.
Press Applications . Then press Menu . From the App menu, select Info...
Tap Version at the bottom of the screen. Use your stylus to scroll down until you see CameraLib-camL
