Palm and Siebel Systems Strengthen Alliance to Deliver Enterprise Mobile Solutions



Palm Elevated to Siebel Strategic Platform Partner; Both Firms Deploy Joint Solution Internally as Strong Endorsement

SYDNEY, October 31, 2001 -- Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq: PALM), a pioneer in the field of mobile and wireless Internet solutions and a leading provider of handheld computers, and Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEBL), the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software, have strengthened their existing alliance to jointly market, sell and ensure smooth implementation of Siebel Systems' mobile eBusiness solutions on Palm(TM) branded handheld computers.

This alliance will focus on helping enterprise customers achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction, maximise revenues and receive a strong return on investment. Underscoring their confidence in the strength and effectiveness of the joint mobile sales solution, each company will internally deploy Siebel Sales on Palm handhelds to increase productivity and revenues generated by their own mobile sales professionals worldwide.

Palm, now a Strategic Platform Partner in the Siebel Alliance Program, and Siebel Systems have agreed to jointly market and sell a suite of high-quality mobile sales solutions, providing companies with tried, tested and proven technology from two of the most well-respected and well-known business brands in the world. The companies kicked off the expanded alliance in Chicago at Siebel Worldwide User Week 2001, by featuring Siebel 7, the latest release of Siebel eBusiness Applications and Siebel Sales Handheld 7 for Palm OS(R).

Siebel Sales Handheld 7 for Palm OS

A key component of Siebel 7, Siebel Sales Handheld 7 provides instant access to vital information that mobile sales professionals need to grow revenues more quickly, predictably and profitably. Siebel Sales Handheld 7 is the mobile version of Siebel Sales. This product is designed specifically to help sales professionals do their jobs more effectively and profitably by providing the means to focus on the right deals at the right time. Siebel Sales Handheld 7 leverages many of the features in Siebel Sales, including accounts, activities, calendar, contacts, employees, expenses, opportunities, price lists, products and quotes management. Using Siebel Tools, customers can easily customise the user interface, business rules, and captured data with Siebel Sales Handheld 7 for maximum flexibility.
