Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP2 - (NOTE: This update is not compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista)
Internet Explorer version 6 or higher on desktop PC
Minimum screen resolution of 800x600 on desktop PC
750v smartphone must be connected to power adapter and the sync cable throughout the update.
Do you need this update?
To check if your Treo 750v is eligible for the Treo 750v 1.16 Updater follow these steps:
Press Start . Select Settings.
Select the System tab. Open About. Go to the Phone tab.
Look at the Software Version. What do you see?
If you see a Software Version that isLESS THAN TREO750-1.16-XXX, YES, you should install this update.
Note: Devices with software versions equal to or higher than that stated above need not install this update. In the Software Version string referenced above, the version number (shown in red) is the signifier to tell whether or not your device needs this update.
Once you have successfully updated your Treo 750v, your device will show a software version TREO750-1.16-XXX .(Note: “XXX” refers to a code for your specific carrier).
Before you start
Do not stop the update before it is finished. Like any important software update for computing devices it is possible for your device to become unusable if the update process is interrupted during a critical phase.
Running applications or browsing the Internet on the desktop PC during the update is not advised. Ensure that ActiveSync is not currently synchronising or running in the background prior to executing the Treo update. These activities may interfere with the updater process.
IMPORTANT! WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
During the installation process, some users may encounter a scenario in which the update does not complete and the device becomes unresponsive.
If you experience this scenario, there is a recovery tool available to reset your device. Once your device has been reset, you can then proceed with the update process again. For more information and access to the recovery tool, please click here.

Have ActiveSync 4.2 installed on your desktop PC.
Connect your smartphone to the USB ActiveSync cable and complete a synchronisation before installing the update. ActiveSync should say "Connected" with the green icon, but not be currently synchronising, when you run the update.
Connect the cable directly to a USB port on your desktop PC. Cradles, docking stations and USB hubs may interfere with the upgrade process.
Turn off anti-virus software, screen savers and power saving on your desktop PC.
If using a laptop, ensure it has power for at least 60-90 minutes.
Make sure that your smartphone has at least 7 MB available storage memory (how to check).
Unlock your device by entering the password/pin and turn off any passwords on the device.
Disable the ActiveSync option to "sync items as they arrive" if you are using it; instead, set your device to synchronise on a schedule or not at all during the update.
Pick up or move your smartphone during the update. This can cause the cable to lose connection and halt the update.
Lock or suspend your desktop PC during the update.
Use Bluetooth wireless to connect with your desktop PC during the update; instead, use the USB ActiveSync cable.
Remove the synchronisation cable during the update.
Remove the battery from your smartphone during the update.
Remove the power adapter cable during the update.
Have a miniSD card in the device when installing this update.

You must use a desktop PC and a USB synchronisation cable to install this update; it cannot be installed wirelessly.
The 'Today' screen (seen in image below) should be visible before you proceed. To access this screen, simply press the 'OK' button on your keypad until the 'Today' screen is visible.
Double-click the .EXE file to begin the update. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the desktop part of the updater.
License Agreement :
Click 'Agree' to accept the license agreement and to advance to the next screen, or 'Disagree' to quit.
Connect Your Device:
When this screen appears, ensure your device is connected to your computer and is also charging.
Do not remove the cable before the update is completed!!!
When you are ready, click 'Start Update'.
Update Begins:
This screen will allow you to track the progress of the update.
As the screens progress please follow the instructions on your smartphone to continue the update
Attention Required:
Please follow the setup instructions on your smartphone to continue
the update.
When you have completed the setup instructions
on the smartphone on the PC you will see the 'Welcome to the Pocket PC
Sync Setup Wizard' screen select 'Cancel' to establish the ActiveSync
connection
Press 'Continue' on the 'Attention Required' screen when done

When the update is completed, you will
see the following screen. Click the 'Finish' button to close the Update window.
