Palm, Inc. is delivering a software update for Treo 600 smartphones
as part of our continuous effort to give customers the best possible experience.
The update features performance and reliability enhancements.
A step-by-step process will help you back up the data on your smartphone,
update your device with the new software and restore your data back to
the device.
Benefits of the software update include:
Improved data connectivity to browse the web,
send and retrieve email and other applications.
Improved rendering of web pages and graphics
in the web browser.
Ability to select a privacy mode for incoming SMS to
hide the message content and sender information.
Enhanced audio-quality reliability, and reduced
audio distortion.
Ability to enable car kit echo cancellation for
better audio performance.
Updated carrier settings for roaming to international
networks.
Software now reflects the new name of our company -
Palm.
Note: Installer includes two HotSync operations:
one to backup your data, and one to restore your data
after the update process is completed.
Do I need the Treo 600 Updater?
Yes, unless you already have the latest software on your device. Here's
how to tell:

Press Phone
2.
Press Menu
3.
From the Options menu, select Phone
Info.
4.
In the Phone Info screen read the
numbers after "Software." Look at the number
after the "Treo 600-."
5.
If your software version number
is lower than 1.12, this software update is for
you.
System Requirements
Treo 600 smartphone
Windows® 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP or Mac OS® X
10.1 - 10.3.3
At least 12MB/1,200KB (Mac) or 6MB/6,000KB (Windows)
free memory on your Treo 600 (how
to tell how much free memory you have). The free
memory accommodates the update application on your
device; the application will be removed from your device
(and the memory freed) when the update is complete.
For Microsoft Outlook® users who use PocketMirror®:
PocketMirror version 3.1.2 or later. The installation
CD for Treo 600 includes version 3.1.2, or you can download
the latest version from Chapura.
Must be installing the update on a computer with which
the Treo 600 is synchronised (i.e. a user folder for
the Treo exists on the computer).
Must synchronise with your current user name.
You may have several user names stored on your desktop
computer. Make sure you synchronise with the user name
on your Treo 600, or you will appear to lose data.
