Treo 600 Updater 1.12 (Other GSM Carriers)

Before you Install

Do you use a corporate wireless email client to link to your Microsoft Exchange (Outlook), Lotus Notes or other corporate email account? Most corporate email solutions (such as Goodlink, Visto MessageXpress and others) have special back-up procedures to ensure the highest level of security. Please contact your IT helpdesk before executing the software update to get the appropriate back-up instructions for your email client.

Treo 600 Car Kit Users
Click here if you ever used the Treo 600 Car Kit.
Installation: Windows
  1. Find your device's user name.
  2. During the installation process, make sure your Treo 600's battery is fully charged and that your device is connected to both the charger and your computer (how).
  3. Make sure you have at least 6MB free memory on your device (how).
  4. Change all conduits to 'Synchronize the files' (how). This ensures a current backup of data normally backed up during a HotSync operation.
  5. Download Treo600_ROW Updater1_12.zip (7.3MB ZIP File).
  6. Unzip the file you just downloaded: Treo600_ROW_Updater1_12.zip.
  7. Double-click the file you unzipped: Treo600 ROW Updater1.12.exe.
  8. Follow all instructions in the installation wizard that will appear. When asked to perform a HotSync operation, be sure to push the HotSync button only once.

Installation: Mac
  1. Find your device's user name.
  2. During the installation process, make sure your Treo 600's battery is fully charged and that your device is connected to both the charger and your computer (how).
  3. Make sure you have at least 12MB free memory on your device (how).
  4. Change all conduits to 'Synchronize the files' (how). This ensures a current backup of data normally backed up during a HotSync operation.
  5. Download the ROW_1_12_Updater.sit (5.6MB SIT File).
  6. Your web browser should automatically expand the file, and you will see the file ROW_1_12_Updater.sit appear on your Mac desktop or your default download folder. If your web browser does not expand the file automatically, you will need to use an expansion utility such as Aladdin Stuffit Expander to decompress the file. Note the folder location in which the decompressed file is saved.
  7. Double click the file ROW 1.12 Updater.prc that was decompressed. The Install Tool window will open. If asked, select your Treo 600's user name from the list.
  8. Perform a HotSync® operation to transfer the updater to your device.
  9. On your Treo 600, press Applications launcher .
  10. Launch the application named ROW 1.12 Updater.
  11. Follow the onscreen instructions to run the updater on your device.
  12. Important: You must do these steps, or the updater will be re-installed on your device every time you perform a HotSync operation:
    1. On your Mac, locate the file ROW 1.12 Updater.prc in your Backup folder, which is located in your user folder.
    2. Delete the file from your Backup folder.
  13. Perform another HotSync operation to restore your data to your Treo 600.
