NCLB: Title II, Part C
Title II, Part C – Troops to Teachers, Transitions to Teaching, National Writing Project and Teaching of Traditional American History
The purpose of Title II, Part C is to:
- Encourages former military personnel to become classroom teachers through Troops to Teachers
- Recruits and retains highly qualified mid-career professionals and recent college graduates as teachers in high-need schools through Transitions to Teaching grants
- Supports programs to train classroom teachers to teach writing effectively to their students through the National Writing Project
- Supports student achievement by improving teachers’ knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of American history through The Teaching American History program with a vision that by enhancing students knowledge of American history, they will be well-prepared to understand and exercise their civic rights and responsibilities
