NCLB: Title III

Title III – Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant Students

The purpose of Title III is to:

  • Ensure that children who are limited English proficient, including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment in English, and meet the same challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards as all children are expected to meet

  • Improve the instruction of limited English proficient children by providing for the acquisition or development of educational technology or instructional materials

  • View interactive ideas and relationships to support comprehension, retention and skill development
*Note: Many of the handheld uses in Title I and Title II are also applicable under Title III
