PalmPilotTM connected organizers from U.S
Robotics
Chicago, Illinois (March 10 1997) - Smartcode Software, Inc
announced today that it has released Handstamp 2.0, the second
generation of its native Internet electronic mail package designed
for U.S Robotics palmtop computers. HandStamp allows users to send
and retrieve messages easily and directly over the Internet.
While continuing to support existing Pilot 1000 and Pilot 5000
machines, the new version has been enhanced with features such as:
support for U.S.R's new PalmPilot Personal and Professional machines
running PalmOS 2.0; the ability to read e-mail addresses directly
from Pilot and PalmPilot address books; forward/reply options; and
improved message handling.
HandStamp currently uses standard and wireless modems and Smartcode
Software's integrated PPP TCP/IP stack to connect with Internet
Service Providers. The company plans to support U.S.R's native PPP
TCP/IP stack in its forthcoming PalmPilot Professional machines. Mail
transport is handled by POP3 and SMTP client modules developed by
Smartcode.
A trial version of HandStamp may be downloaded for free from
Smartcode's Web site (http://www.smartcodesoft.com).
The download packages comes complete with the HandStamp application,
integrated TCP/IP, and user documentation.
