US Robotics and Starfish Software Announce Sidekick 97 Synchronization With PalmPilotTM

Starfish TrueSync 2.0 Allows PalmPilot Users To Synchronize Calendars, Contacts, Notes And To-Do Lists With #1 Sidekick Organizer Software

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. - March 10, 1997 -- Furthering its commitment to provide connectivity and smart information management solutions for mobile professionals, Starfish Software, Inc. today announced the availability of Starfish TrueSync 2.0 for new models of the popular U.S. Robotics® (NASDAQ: USRX) PalmPilotTM handheld organizer.

With Starfish TrueSync 2.0, new PalmPilot users can take advantage of the full-featured Sidekick 97 organizer on their desktop or laptop computer while keeping current, accurate and synchronized calendar, contact, notes and to-do details with them on the PalmPilot without having to re-key data. TrueSync offers the ultimate solution for mobile professionals, combining the portability and convenience of the PalmPilot hand-held organizer with the benefits of the #1 desktop organizer software.

"With TrueSync for PalmPilot, Sidekick users can take contact and calendar information with them on the road," said Donna Dubinsky, general manager of Palm Computing, Inc., a subsidiary of U.S. Robotics. "With the push of a button, PalmPilot with TrueSync keeps desktop and mobile information in sync."

"Starfish sees the PalmPilot as an important tool for mobile professionals, and up-to-date information is vital to PalmPilot users," said Philippe Kahn chairman and co-founder of Starfish Software. "We've worked very closely with Palm Computing to develop a product to meet its users' needs."

ONE BUTTON SYNCHRONIZATION MAKES IT EASY

Once installed with Sidekick 97, Starfish TrueSync 2.0 seamlessly integrates the TrueSync Wizard with the Sidekick 97 menu structure. Using the TrueSync Wizard, the user sets preferences for synchronization choosing from three options: to merge data from both Sidekick and the PalmPilot, or to give either Sidekick 97 or PalmPilot data precedence. When the user is ready to synchronize data between Sidekick 97 and the PalmPilot, they simply plug the PalmPilot into its cradle, push the HotSync button, and calendar, contact, notes and to-do data will be updated as specified.

Sidekick 97 is designed to work with Netscape Navigator (NASDAQ:NSCP), Microsoft Internet Explorer (NASDAQ:MSFT), and Qualcomm Eudora (NASDAQ:QCOM), so that Internet e-mail address books can automatically be added to Sidekick 97 and PalmPilot. Starfish TrueSync also allows for multiple profiles to specify preferences for different contact files and different PalmPilot users, and its global time zone support makes Sidekick 97 and TrueSync for PalmPilot ideal for those who travel between multiple time zones.
