Palm Makes the Grade with Education at NECC Conference

Leader in Handheld Computing Presents Strategies, Offers Workshops and Demonstrates Educational Applications at Annual Education Computer Trade Show

NECC Conference, Booth #33, Atlanta, Ga. - June 26, 2000 - Today Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq: PALM) announced its strengthened commitment to educational markets through a series of presentations, workshops and software demonstrations at the annual National Educational Computer Conference. In conjunction with the show, Palm is offering workshops during the conference to highlight the benefits handheld computers provide to educational communities. Additionally, Palm™ solution providers are demonstrating mobile Palm OS® platform compatible applications that transform Palm handhelds into valuable tools for teaching and learning. . These solutions for educators, students and parents can be viewed both at Palm's booth and at developers' booths throughout the show floor.

Palm's new vice president for education, Mike Lorion, is presenting "Handheld Technology in Teaching and Learning" at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2000 in the Hilton Hotel Salon A. His presentation details some of the current trends in mobile educational and distance learning, while demonstrating the benefits to educators of handheld computing. In addition, Palm is offering a series of workshops demonstrating specific Palm technologies designed to optimize educators' use of Palm handhelds. Palm's presentations and workshops at the conference highlight mobile educational solutions currently available for students, teachers and administrators, as well as a glimpse of what educational computing will look like in the future.

"Schools need cost-effective tools to allow educators to streamline their work and focus on teaching, at the same time offering students computing access within their overall curriculum," said Lorion. Application and hardware developers are also demonstrating Palm OS applications during the NECC conference in their respective booths. Demonstrations are being performed by Symbol Technologies, ImagiWorks, Centrinity, Inc., eHomeroom, Sunburst Technologies and Britannica.com.
