PalmSource Appoints Chief Administrative Officer

Doreen Yochum Brings Executive Experience From AT&T Labs

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PalmSource, Inc., the Palm OS(R) subsidiary of Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq: PALM), today announced that Doreen S. (Dory) Yochum has been named chief administrative officer. Yochum, formerly with AT&T, will be responsible for all operational aspects of the subsidiary and will oversee its transition to full independence as a separate entity. Yochum will report to David Nagel, PalmSource president and chief executive officer.

"Dory brings a wealth of experience to PalmSource and fills an essential role on our team," said Nagel. "Her extensive operational experience adds the depth required by a fast-moving and industry-leading company such as PalmSource. Dory will provide the operational framework to ensure that we are able to meet our goals and objectives."

Before joining PalmSource, Yochum held a number of positions at AT&T, including vice president and chief operating officer for AT&T Labs. She directed the day-to-day operations and led a unique program that identified potential service concepts and technologies for contribution by the research community. Prior to AT&T's spinoff of NCR and Lucent Technologies, Yochum held senior management positions in several of AT&T's units, including general manager and chief operating officer of a $400 million line of business focused on component technologies, with multiple manufacturing sites in the United States and Europe.

"Joining PalmSource offers me the unique opportunity to help shape the next chapter of the already-industry-leading Palm OS platform," said Yochum. "We have the chance to stake a whole new identity for PalmSource -- a culture built on the solid roots of Palm, Inc., yet redesigned specifically to advance the platform and capitalize on the industry's high growth potential."
