HANDSPRING PREPARES VISOR HANDHELDS FOR SPRING PROMOTIONS
New $199 price for Visor Deluxe and rebate programs for Visor Platinum position Handspring products with great value for the spring gift-giving season
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. (May 7, 2001) - Handspring, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAND) today announced a price reduction on its most popular Visor handheld, discounting the Visor Deluxe by $50 from $249 to $199. The 8MB Visor Deluxe, which comes in five colors, is available now at Handspring.com and through participating online and retail locations. Also, customers who purchase a Visor Deluxe by June 17, 2001 from Handspring.com or participating retailers will receive a free slim leather case while supplies last.
In time for the spring gift-giving holidays, Handspring is also offering two promotions: a $50 rebate on the purchase of any new Visor Platinum and $30 rebates on select Springboard modules with the purchase of any Visor handheld. These promotions began Sunday May 6, 2001 and run through June 17, 2001 at Handspring.com and through participating online and retail partners. Springboard module availability may vary at retail. The Visor Platinum, which uses the fastest Palm OS processor, the DragonBall VZ 33MHz processor, is currently priced at $299 at Handspring.com and through participating online and retail locations and will be available for $249 with the mail-in rebate. Springboard modules included in the spring promotion are the Margi Systems Presenter-to-Go, which can be connected to an LCD projector and used to display mobile presentations directly from the Visor handheld; the eyemodule digital camera, which takes both color and black and white photographs that can be beamed from one handheld to another or downloaded in JPEG format to a PC or Macintosh desktop computer; the Wristband ThinModem, a slim wire line modem; the Magellan GPS Companion, a powerful GPS navigation module; and the Xircom Springport Modem 56 GlobalACCESS, a 56Kbps high-speed wire line modem.
