HANDSPRING'S TREO 90 ORGANIZER NOW AVAILABLE IN RETAIL STORES NATIONWIDE

Treo 90 available for sale at Staples, Best Buy, Circuit City, Good Guys, CompUSA, Office Max, Fry's Electronics and J&R

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. (June 26, 2002)—Handspring, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAND), a leading innovator in personal communications and handheld computing products and services, today announced nationwide retail availability of the Treo 90, a sleek new organizer with a built-in keyboard and full-color display. The Treo 90 costs $299 and comes with 16MB of memory, Secure Digital and MultiMediaCard expansion capabilities and a long-lasting rechargeable battery. Treo 90 is available now at Staples, Best Buy, Circuit City, Good Guys, Fry's Electronics, J&R and within the next few weeks at CompUSA and Office Max (availability and pricing may vary by region).

"Treo 90 is not like any other organizer customers have seen before - it's the smallest and lightest color Palm OS organizer on the market and has an integrated keyboard," said Greg Woock, vice president of North American sales at Handspring. "Bringing Treo 90 to the top nationwide and regional retail stores allows customers to see for themselves how tiny this organizer really is and how easy and more familiar it feels to use a QWERTY keyboard instead of Graffiti."

"The Treo 90 is a terrific new handheld for helping our small business and consumer customers stay organized," said David Figler, vice president of Merchandising for Staples, Inc. "Customers love the unique design, color screen and built-in keyboard, and initial sales have been strong."

Treo 90 recently won a CNET Editors' Choice award. This award recognizes products of the highest quality, performance, design and service. It is awarded only to products and services that the CNET editors feel are outstanding in their class, setting the standard by which all future products will be judged.

Treo 90 is also available in Asia, and in the upcoming months it will be sold in Europe and Canada as well.

About Treo 90
Treo 90 is one of the first organizers available with a built-in QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard offers faster, more familiar data entry and navigation. Available in bronze, Treo 90 measures 4.2 x 2.8 x 0.65 inches and weighs just four ounces. It is a powerful Palm OS organizer with 16MB of memory. Running on Palm OS 4.1.1H, the latest version of the Palm OS with Handspring's enhancements, Treo 90 is compatible with the thousands of Palm OS applications. It has a rechargeable lithium ion battery that lasts 10 days on a full charge and quickly recharges and synchronizes with a desktop computer while connected to the USB HotSync cable.

Treo 90 has a transflective, color STN display, with a backlit touch screen, that improves readability of text and graphics in a variety of lighting conditions. Treo 90 also has a removable flip cover with a clear window that protects the screen and keyboard without adding size to the device. The clear window offers a view of the entire screen, so that people can check the calendar and other PIM applications without lifting the lid. In addition, the Treo 90 offers expansion capabilities via a Secure Digital (SD)/MultiMediaCard (MMC) slot at the top of the device that does not compromise the size or thickness of the organizer. This slot lets users backup their data or add memory and content, including games, photographs, books and databases. Examples of SD/MMC solutions include SanDisk's recently introduced 32MB flash memory and backup SD expansion card, and LandWare's "Zagat Restaurant and Nightlife Guide" and "Wine Enthusiast" expansion cards.
