HANDSPRING REDUCES PRICE OF BREAKTHROUGH VISORPHONE
Innovative phone module now available for U.S. $49 with activation at Handspring.com
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. (July 16, 2001) - Handspring, Inc. (Nasdaq:HAND), said today it will begin selling its award-winning VisorPhone Springboard module for U.S. $49 when purchased at Handspring.com with a one-year service activation contract from GSM providers Cingular Wireless, Powertel or Voicestream. Handspring will sell VisorPhone for U.S. $299 without service activation at Handspring.com. The new pricing is available immediately at Handspring.com.
With this aggressive new pricing, Handspring expects to introduce a greater number of customers to the power of combined organizer and phone functionality. Praised in the industry for its seamless integration of handheld computer and mobile phone feature sets, VisorPhone sets new software standards for convenience and ease-of-use in multi-function communication products, an area of increased focus for the company.

VisorPhone is a GSM world phone (900/1900 MHz) that turns any Visor into a compact wireless voice and data device. It leverages the robust PIM functionality and larger screen of Visor handhelds to bring Address Book dialing, enhanced caller ID, conference calling and other features to a new level of usability. Handspring recently optimized VisorPhone for data communications, including
e-mail, instant messaging and web browsing, by adding a suite of wireless applications to the VisorPhone package, including Handspring's new Blazer web browser, Yahoo! Messenger, JP Mobile One-Touch Mail and Electric Pocket's BugMe! Messenger.
Handspring's popular Blazer web browser features content powered by Microsoft's MSN Mobile and search capabilities provided by Google. When used with VisorPhone, Blazer brings true Internet access to the Visor product family. Blazer supports all major existing standards, optimizing HTML, WAP and cHTML content for viewing on a handheld display.
