HANDSPRING TEAMS WITH WIDGET GROUP TO BRING SPRINGBOARD MODULES AND QUALITY SOFTWARE OFFERINGS TO EUROPEAN CUSTOMERS
Geneva, Switzerland - October 16, 2000 - Handspring International Sarl., a leading handheld computing innovator, and Widget Group Ltd, announced today they have opened a web store for Springboard modules at Widget.com, Europe's premier destination for handheld computing. Handspring, sarl, and Widget Group Ltd, will produce a co-branded website to sell a full range of Springboard modules direct to European consumers, and provide a link to this site from Handspring's European websites.
Handspring Visor customers can now easily purchase a variety of Springboard expansion modules and Visor accessories at Handspring's partner web stores in Europe: http://hs.widget.co.uk (international English), http://hs.widget.fr (France), http://hs.widget.de (Germany) or by linking through the Handspring web stores at http://www.handspring.com/uk, http://www.handspring.com/fr and http://www.handspring.com/de.
Several modules and accessories, like the Eyemodule Digital Camera, Xircom's Springport Modem or the popular Stowaway and GoType! keyboards are available today and many more solutions ranging from content modules to communications solutions will be added in the coming months. With back-end integration services provided by Widget, visitors to Handspring's European sites can now conveniently browse and purchase the Springboards and accessories available to use with Handspring's new family of Visor™ expandable handheld computers. Widget Group Ltd will fulfill orders placed on this web site directly from its offices in UK, France and Germany, offering prices in sterling, Euros and other currencies as appropriate.
In addition to giving Handspring customers fast and easy access to a wide variety of handheld accessories, the alliance gives developers of high-quality Springboard modules another vehicle for promoting their solutions, and gives Widget an additional front end to their successful web-based distribution model. It also helps Handspring round out its range of offerings for customers at the European websites. Handspring's Visor handheld computers are compatible with the thousands of software applications available for the Palm OS. Handspring chose to work with Widget as a key web partner in Europe to deliver Springboard modules to Visor customers because of the company's proven market experience, reliable sales channel and quality support services catered to the handheld computing customer.
