Read and edit a report on a plane
As soon as you land, quickly email1 it to your colleagues, or sync it to your computer after you get back to your desk at the office. How it works: You can open native Microsoft Word documents on your handheld. Edits can be made using Documents To Go. Some editing functionality is not supported, such as multiple font sizes and spell check. When you save the revised document, you will have the option of saving the file as an optimized "Word To Go" document or as a native .DOC file. The next time you synchronize, any edits you made will be copied onto your desktop versions of the document. -
Create a word processing document
on your commute home. How it works: Use Documents To Go to create a Word To Go document right on your device. When you save, you have the option of saving the file as a Microsoft Word (.DOC) file. -
Edit a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
in a meeting, then beam it to a colleague. Retain your changes and file formatting when you sync the spreadsheet back to your computer. How it works: Changes are made in Documents To Go. Some editing functionality is not supported, such as multiple font sizes and spell check. The revised document can be saved as a Microsoft Excel (.XLS) file. -
Rehearse your presentation
on the way to a meeting. How it works: Documents To Go lets you view native PowerPoint files (Mac or PC) on your device. Presentations you receive wirelessly or have stored on an SD expansion card can be opened for viewing on your device with no conversion required. -
Edit a presentation
right on your device. How it works: First, select the Slideshow To Go format on your desktop before transferring the file to your device. Any edits that you make to the file on your device will be merged into the original PowerPoint file on your PC the next time you synchronize. -
What is a "native" file?
"Native" indicates that a file in its original desktop format, specifically Microsoft Word (DOC), Excel (XLS), or PowerPoint (PPT), can be viewed on your device using Documents To Go® v7.Before native document support, Microsoft documents had to be converted on the desktop to a special format (Word To Go, Sheet To Go), and then synchronized to the device. But now, with native document support, no desktop conversion is needed, so you can immediately open files sent to you as email attachments, via Bluetooth, or files on an expansion card.
An on-the-fly conversion still occurs on the device side to optimize the file for small-screen viewing. This is a temporary conversation, because when the file is closed it is still a .doc, .ppt or .xls file.

Optimized file format still available
If you choose to, you can still work with documents in a non-native format. This is helpful when you need to beam a large document to another Palm OSĀ® device with limited space. It's also ideal when you want to save space on your own device. -
Mobile Editing
When you edit a word processing document or spreadsheet on your device, you have the option to save the updated document as either a .doc/.xls file or a Word To Go or Sheet To Go file.PC users can edit a PowerPoint presentation on their device. The file must first be converted to Slideshow To Go format on the desktop, then synchronized to the device. Saved edits are automatically merged into the original PowerPoint file during the next sync.
PowerPoint support for Macintosh is view only.
Mobile editing capabilities are provided by Documents To Go, a DataViz product. Some features and functionality you have when editing in a Microsoft application on your desktop are not supported.
