Palm Mobile Connectivity Software includes Palm SMS which enables you to send and receive short text messages (SMS) using your Palm handheld and a compatible GSM phone.

Using Graffiti® characters or the onscreen keyboard on your Palm handheld, you can write an SMS much faster than with the GSM phone keypad. You also have the added benefit of a larger display when reading incoming messages.

Palm SMS works on handhelds running OS 4.0 or Palm OS 4.1 and requires a phone driver. Some drivers are phone specific, while others may work on many similar models of the same brand. In case your phone is not listed, try to download and use the Standard GSM phone driver.

2. Install it on your handheld
   • On a PC:
     • Open your Palm Desktop, click on the Install icon
     • Click add and select the driver you have just downloaded
     • Perform a HotSync operation
   • On a Mac:
     • Click on the Instant Palm Desktop pop-up menu, go to Hotsync/Install Handheld files
     • Click add and select the driver you have just downloaded
     • Perform a HotSync operation

3. When prompted, tap reset to complete the installation on your Palm handheld.

4. Tap the Preferences icon on the Palm

5. Tap the Pick list in the upper-right corner of the screen and select phone

6. Tap the Connection pick list and select the appropriate driver for your phone
