Palm VersaMail 2.0 Attachment Update

Posted November 19, 2002

Palm™ VersaMail™ 2.0 supports sending and receiving e-mail that contains file attachments. JPG/JPEG attachments can be added to e-mail and received by VersaMail for viewing on the palmOne handheld. Viewing JPG/JPEG attachments directly on the palmOne handheld requires the installation of a 3rd party application that is capable of viewing unconverted image files.

The VersaMail 2.0 Attachment Update will allow files that exceed 50KB in size to be handled correctly, and combined with a third party viewer, will permit JPG/JPEG files to be viewed directly on the handheld from within the VersaMail application. In some instances, VersaMail 2.0 may not handle JPG/JPEG attachments larger than 50 to 60KB correctly. This Update addresses these issues.

This Update will affect only JPG/JPEG files being directly viewed from within the VersaMail application. Attachments can also be saved to an available expansion card and viewed from a 3rd party image viewing application.
