Treo Verizon 700w|wx smartphone Audio Patch

Posted November 26, 2007

While on an active call, the Treo 700w|wx may lose audio when a second call is ignored or a voicemail notification is dismissed.

Please read below to find out how to upgrade your device to help eliminate the occurrence of this scenario on your Treo 700w|wx.

A knowledge base article describing how to troubleshoot the Loss of Audio while on a call can be found here.

Why does a loss of audio sometimes occur?

While on a call, the Treo 700w|wx will dim or shut off the touchscreen after a period of time. The device will "wake up" to address the 2nd call or voicemail notification, however, when returning to the dimmed state, the device may incorrectly enter a suspend mode. This mode disables the speaker and microphone.

How does this software update help prevent the device from experiencing the loss of audio while on a call?

Follow the steps below to help prevent the loss of audio in the scenario described above. Important changes have been made to the audio driver, instructing it to check for active calls, and restore audio when necessary. Also, improvements in keyboard logic will help prevent the device from entering a suspend state after dismissing the 2nd call or voicemail notification, therefore helping preserve audio on the current call.
