Palm OS® Software 4.1 Upgrade for the Palm m500 and m505 handhelds Update

The Palm OS Software 4.1 Upgrade for the Palm m500 and m505 handhelds will upgrade your handheld to version 4.1 of the Palm Operating System. This upgrade is intended for all Palm m505 handhelds and Palm m500 handhelds running Palm OS Software 4.0.
The Palm OS Software 4.1 Upgrade resolves minor issues with Palm OS Software 4.0. The Palm OS Software 4.1 Upgrade includes the FATFS.PRC, which resolves recognition issues between the Palm handheld and memory expansion cards larger than 32 MB. It also improves performance when copying large files between the Palm handheld and a memory expansion card.
In addition, it includes Copy Update, which enables the Launcher's Copy function to copy user data associated with an application.

System Requirements
- Palm m500 or m505 running Palm OS 4.0
- PC running Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/2000/Me
- Or -
- Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x
- Palm OS 4.1 Software Upgrade for the Palm m500 and m505 handhelds is NOT compatible with Windows XP and Mac OS X.
Note: This version of the Palm OS® Software 4.1 Upgrade for the Palm m500 and m505 handhelds Update is intended for US English handhelds only. It is not compatible with Multi-Language versions of the Palm m500 and m505 handhelds.
Windows Installation
- Download:
- Extract the file using a standard unzip utility. Note the location of the directory/folder the file is extracted to.
- Locate Palmm50X_eng4_1_FlashNew file in the directory/folder noted in Step 2 above and double-click on it.
Macintosh Installation
- Download:
- Your web browser should decode the file and you will see the appropriate .sit file appear on the desktop (or in your default download folder).
- If your web browser does not decode the file automatically, you will need to use a decoding utility (such as Aladdin Stuffit Expander) in order to decode the .sit file.
- Double click on the file to launch the application
