Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) Update for Palm OS Devices

Over the air installation
Easily install the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync® Update for Palm OS® devices to your Treo smartphone by typing www.palm.com/easupdate into your Blazer browser. You can download the update directly to your phone and start taking advantage of Microsoft's Direct Push Technology.


Windows

AT&T customers (including former Cingular customers):
Do not install this update. Instead, install the Software Update for AT&T Treo 680, which includes the Exchange ActiveSync features.

Verizon Wireless Treo 700p customers:
Do not install this update. Instead, install the Treo 700p Update, after which you may install VersaMail 3.5.4, which contains support for Microsoft Direct Push Technology. This version of VersaMail is compatible only with Verizon Treo 700p smartphones.

Download: EAS_SP2_Update_EN.zip (151KB Zip Archive)

Decompress the downloaded file to a temporary folder, using one of these decompression utilities: WinZip, StuffIt, PKZIP, or Windows default. One file will be decompressed: EAS_SP2_Update_EN.prc

Double-click the file EAS_SP2_Update_EN.prc.

The Install Tool will open. Make sure your Treo smartphone's user name is selected, and that you're installing to Handheld (not Expansion Card).

Perform a HotSync operation.

On your smartphone, press Applications . Select EASUpdate. Select Update Now, and then Next.
Your smartphone will prompt you to perform a soft reset. Select OK. When the reset has finished, open VersaMail (Email), and select the account that uses Exchange ActiveSync. Sync your email.

Note the alert message after you sync: "Direct push is now enabled."

To verify installation

In VersaMail, press Menu . From the Options menu, select Preferences, then select AutoSync. There is now an option for "As items arrive."

Mac

AT&T customers (including former Cingular customers): Make sure you have installed the Software Update for AT&T Treo 680 before proceeding. You will not be able to install this software if you haven't updated your smartphone. This requirement does not apply to Unlocked GSM smartphones on the AT&T network.
