VersaMail is included on your software CD as an optional installation. This update is for Treo 650 Verizon Wireless models sold before August 2005.

If you purchased your Treo 650 before this date, you can benefit by downloading the new version 3.1 of VersaMail. The functionality is the same as the previous version, but the application has been optimized for the Treo 650 smartphone.

We highly recommend that you download this version of VersaMail if you use the original 3.0c version shipped with your Treo 650.

If you are currently using VersaMail 3.0c (the version provided before August 2005), you should install the version 3.1 update.

Here's how to tell:

1. Turn on your Treo's screen by pressing Power/End .
2. Press Home .
3. Find the VersaMail application and select it.
4. In VersaMail, press Menu .
5. From the Options menu, select About VersaMail.
6. You should see the version number for your copy of VersaMail underneath the palmOne logo.
   1. VersaMail® 3.0c: Yes, you need this update.
   2. VersaMail® 3.1: No, you do not need this update.

• Verizon Wireless Treo 650 smartphone (other versions of the Treo 650 should not install this update). If you wish to obtain VersaMail for use on another product, please purchase it from the software connection.
• Windows 2000 or XP or Mac OS X 10.2 to 10.3.x
• You'll need to locate two pieces of information in order to download the update:
  • Treo 650 serial number (how to find it)
  • Your Treo 650 ESN Dec (decimal) number, which is on the same label as the serial number.

1. Locate these two pieces of information:

2. Enter your information to download the file (filename will be VersaMail3.1A-BEFIGS-WinInsall.zip). Return to this page when download is complete.

3. Unzip the file you downloaded.

4. Double-click the file you unzipped: INSTALL_BEFIGS.exe (be sure to run this from a local - not shared network - drive).

5. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard that will appear.

6. Perform a HotSync operation to install the update on your smartphone.

3. Your Mac's web browser should automatically expand the file into a folder named INSTALL_BEFIGS which contains files organized by language. If your Mac's web browser does not expand the file automatically, you will need to use an expansion utility. Note the folder location in which the decompressed files are saved.

4. Select the folder that corresponds with the language version of VersaMail that you would like to install.

5. Double click one of the Palm OS files in the language folder. The Install Handheld Files window will open, with that file in the list. If asked, select your Treo 650's user name from the list.

6. Select All files in the Treo 650 Update folder and drop them in the Install Handheld Files window.

7. Perform a HotSync operation to install the update on your smartphone.
