Additional requirements for installation

This update requires a blank SD/MMC expansion card and a card reader. Do not use a miniSD or microSD expansion card and adapter. Instead, please use a full-sized SD/MMC card between 64MB and 2GB.
Backup all data before proceeding with this update. This update will erase all data on users' devices.
The smartphone must be plugged into its AC charger when you insert the expansion card.
DO NOT remove the update card until the "Success" message is displayed on the device.

Create an Updater Card.
1		Preparing your expansion card: Insert a SD or MMC card into the card reader, and format the expansion card using FAT32. It needs to be blank in order to proceed. Note - Formatting will erase all information from the card.
		On your PC, click the Start button and select My Computer.
		Select the Card Reader from the list and right click on it.
		Left click on Format.

2		Download: SPNT700wxSDUpdater115.zip (33 MB zip file)

3		Decompress the file you just downloaded. Make sure to check the �Use Folders� option in Winzip. It will unzip the following files and folder: NapaBoth.md5 firmware.bin firmware.md5 NapaBoth.nb0 2577 (folder)

4		On the desktop PC with the expansion card still connected, copy the four files and the folder in its entirety into the root directory (top level, no subfolders) of the expansion card.
Prepare the Device.
5		Backup all existing data on phone either to your desktop PC via ActiveSync or to a separate storage card using the Sprite Backup application available free from Palm support web sites. Note - Palm recommends backing up only My Documents, System Databases (includes Speed Dials) and Personal Databases in Advanced mode. Do not restore the registry.

6		Perform a hard reset. A hard reset will erase everything on the device. All data will be removed, and formats, preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. Don't perform a hard reset unless data is already backed up.
Running the Update
7		Connect the smartphone to the AC charger only. The USB sync cable must not be connected during the update. Turn the device on . Turn the phone radio off. Insert the 1.15 SD card created in Section 4. The phone will launch the updater automatically. When prompted to "Continue" for the Sprint 1.15 Updater, tap the "Continue" button to proceed with the update. Press "OK" to dismiss any warnings that may appear after ensuring actions or checks requested by warnings have actually been performed. Do not disconnect the smartphone from its charger during the update process.

8		The display on your device may change several times during the update. The update process will perform the following operations (there is no interaction required): Full update process including ROM & FW Backing Up NV Items Updating Firmware Restoring NV Items Updating PRL FW Update Complete Downloading OS+BL . The device will reboot and display the Windows Mobile "Tap screen to set up..." screen. Tap to align the screen. Proceed through the date/time screens as normal. Do not remove SD card yet.The Update has not finished. After the above is complete the Updater will launch again and update the software version, and restore settings on the device. This process will take approximately 30 seconds. When complete, it will display "SUCCESS - Device Customizer has successfully completed". Tap OK to close dialog and remove SD card and AC power cord. Soft reset the phone. It is important to soft reset phone by removing and re-inserting battery.

9		Verify the software version string on the device is TREO700WX-1.15-SPNT Press Start. Select Settings Select the System tab. Open About. Go to the Phone tab Look at the Software Version. You should see: TREO700WX-1.15-SPNT

10		You are now ready to use your updated Sprint Treo 700wx smartphone. Restore data on phone either from your desktop PC via ActiveSync or by the Sprite Backup application used earlier.

Many updating issues are caused from removing the SD card too early in the process. If, after updating the device, the software version is not TREO700WX-1.15-SPNT, the first step is to plug the device into AC power, and insert the card with the updater on it. The remaining update process should continue where it left off.

If it does not, Perform a hard reset.on the device and run the update again.

If you're installing the Sprint Treo 700wx 1.15 update, you'll need to take a few extra steps to ensure that your Good Mobile Messaging applications and data are backed up and restored properly.

Blank SD/MMC expansion card, you'll need an additional blank expansion card to accommodate the Treo 700wx Update installer. Do not use the same expansion card for the Good Mobile Messaging backup and the Treo 700wx Update installer files.

An active Good Mobile Messaging account. If you don't use the Good Mobile Messaging application for your email, you don't need to follow the special instructions below.
