The Palm TCUpdate.prc is a software update for the Palm Tungsten C handheld. It resolves the following issues:

• Prevents possible deletion of MAC addresses while ensuring reliable network configurations using MAC address filtering.
• Web Browser caching and refresh updates.
• HotSpot compatibility updates to allow connectivity to the top HotSpot providers.
• VPN User Interface updates to ensure seamless connectivity while VPN is enabled.
• Versamail updates specific to Auto Get Mail and the included VPN client.
• Updates to reduce audio popping and clicking sounds emitted from the built in speaker.

Note: This update is intended for the Palm Tungsten C and is not meant for use with any other handhelds. This patch will reflash your system ROM and all data on your handheld will be deleted. Ensure you backup your data by performing a HotSync in order to avoid any data loss.

The Palm Tungsten C Update requires the following minimum system requirements:

• Palm Tungsten C
• PC running Windows 98/NT 4.0/2000/Me/XP

- OR -
• Mac OS 9.2 or Higher

If you are a Windows user follow these steps using the appropriate files listed above:

1. Ensure that your Tungsten C handheld is fully charged and has at least 20 Megabytes of memory available.
2. Ensure that your Tungsten C handheld has the same MAC address as the one located on the rear of the unit by following these steps:
   1. From the Launcher on your Palm Tungsten C select 'Prefs'.
   2. From the 'Prefs' Panel choose 'Wi-Fi'.
   3. Select 'Info' from the bottom of the Wi-Fi screen .
   4. Next to MAC Address there is a 12 character ID, This should match the number on the rear of your device.
   5. If the MAC Address does not match the MAC label on the rear of the handheld contact Palm Customer Support. DO NOT continue to step 3.
3. Download:
   • U.S. and Canada English Users: TCUpdate_enUS.zip (4.3MB ZIP)
   • French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and English users outside the U.S. and Canada: TCUpdate_Intl.zip (5.5MB ZIP File)
4. Extract the file using a standard unzip utility. Note the location of the directory/folder the file is extracted to.
5. Launch Palm Quick Install on your desktop computer.
6. Select the correct user name from the User list.
7. Select the Add button.
8. Locate TCUpdate.prc file in the directory/folder noted in Step 4 above and double-click on it to add the file to the Palm Quick Install Tool. Ensure you install the file to the handheld and not to an expansion card.
   NOTE: International Customers should install all Six Files located in the newly opened folder.
9. Place your handheld in the cradle and synchronize your device to your computer, the Palm Tungsten C Update will be installed on your handheld.
10. On your handheld device launch the TCUpdate PRC from the launcher screen.
11. Follow the on screen instructions on your handheld to run the update. Your device will automatically reset after the update.
12. Place your handheld in the cradle and HotSync your device to your desktop computer one more time to complete the update.
13. Once this HotSync is complete. Delete the 'TCUpdate' file from your handheld using the Delete function from the Handheld Application panel.

If you are a Macintosh user follow these steps using the appropriate files listed above:

1. Ensure that your Tungsten C handheld is fully charged and has at least 20 Megabytes of memory available.
2. Ensure that your Tungsten C handheld has the same MAC address as the one located on the rear of the unit by following these steps:
   1. From the Launcher on your Palm Tungsten C select 'Prefs'.
   2. From the 'Prefs' Panel choose 'Wi-Fi'.
   3. Select 'Info' from the bottom of the Wi-Fi screen.
   4. Next to MAC Address there is a 12 character ID, This should match the number on the rear of your device.
   5. If the MAC Address does not match the MAC label on the rear of the handheld contact palmOne Customer Support. DO NOT continue to step 3.
3. Download:
   • U.S. and Canada English Users: TCUpdate_enUS.sit (4.1MB SIT File)
   • French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and English users outside the U.S. and Canada: TCUpdate_Intl.sit (4.9MB SIT File)
4. Your web browser should automatically expand the file and you will see the appropriate .sit file appear on the desktop (or in your default download folder). If your web browser does not expand the file automatically, you will need to use an expanding utility (such as Aladdin Stuffit Expander) in order to decode the .sit file.
5. Double click to open the TCUpdate folder.
6. Double click on the TCUpdate.prc file (The file should show up in the install screen)
7. In the "Install Handheld Files" screen select the desired user from the user drop down menu. Ensure you install the file to the handheld and not to an expansion card.
   NOTE: International Customers should install all Six Files located in the newly opened folder.
8. Place your handheld in the cradle and HotSync your device to your computer, the Palm Tungsten C Update will be installed on your handheld.
9. On your handheld device launch the TCUpdate PRC from the launcher screen.
10. Follow the on screen instructions on your handheld to run the update. Your device will automatically reset after the update.
11. Place your handheld in the cradle and HotSync your device to your desktop computer one more time to complete the update.
12. Once this HotSync is complete. Delete the 'TCUpdate' file from your handheld using the Delete function from the Handheld Application panel.
